LG’s Tricked-Out Fridge Puts Windows 10 on a Monster Display
While PC manufacturers introduced several new PC hardware at IFA 2016 earlier this week, LG introduced an interesting new Windows 10 device at the technology trade show yesterday.

In terms of features, it’s not only a refrigerator but also a fully featured computer with Windows 10, allowing you to perform nearly the same activities as on a regular PC.
Arch rival LG has made a decision to one-up Samsung with their own tablet in a fridge door solution with the Smart Instaview Signature fridge with full Windows 10.
Without a doubt, the apps available in the Windows Store opens the door for a wide array of activities that can be performed by the fridge, and given that more devs are jumping on the Windows 10 bandwagon, possibilities in this regard are continuously expanding. Maybe you’d check email or look up recipes while you’re making dinner, perhaps? LG put a fully functioning Windows 10 tablet on the door of a fancy new icebox.
“Following Samsung’s lead, LG are now showing off fridges with a massive 21.5” touchscreen display, but there’s some very important differences between the two. What do think about Windows 10 being used as an OS for a smart fridge? On this screen, users can drag and drop a variety of icons.
Got a gallon of milk that’s going to run out of time in a few days? Pop an expiration icon on the display and then you can tell at a glance when it’s time to buy more. He can plop his icon on the display, in front of the cheesecake as a constant reminder to the rest of his (presumably disappointed) family.
Expect the LG Smart Instaview Door-in-Door Refrigerator to start rolling out late this year or early next year (including in the US), but LG’s representatives in Berlin didn’t offer many concrete details and wouldn’t speculate on the possible price. LG showed off the InstaView panel at the same show. Pricing has not been announced, but it could be somewhere around $4,000 like Samsung’s smart fridge.
