LG To Bring Its Gram Laptops To The US

Dubbed the LG Gram as a nod to just light it is, the 14-inch laptop weighs only 2.16 pounds, less than the 11-inch MacBook Air. Better known to U.S. consumers for its TVs, home appliances, and smartphones, LG is debuting its premium LG Gram Ultra PCs to an American audience, confident that it can capitalize on the momentum of Windows 10. The body of the 14-inch laptop (and the 13-inch option) is made from carbon-lithium and carbon-magnesium, the same material used in spacecrafts, to ensure its durability. While the Gram lacks a touch screen or a RealSense camera – to take advantage of the touch friendly capabilities in Windows 10 – it makes up for it in its tried and tested classic laptop features.

Coming to Microsoft Stores across the United States today is a new range of Windows 10 laptops from a familiar brand.

Users will find the Gram comes with two USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port, microSD card reader, and a microUSB port. Oddly missing, however, is a backlit keyboard and a SD card reader.

The LG gram series offers full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 16:9 ratio, along with LG’s In-Plane Switching technology that adjusts color saturation and contrast.

The LG gram 13-inch model comes in white with Intel Core i5, 8 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage and retails for $899. The laptops come with a built-in Digital-to-Analog converter for hi-fi quality sound. This reportedly has a negative impact upon battery life and general performance, as the Gram failed to last its acclaimed 7.5 hours during testing.

The Gram is packed with compact dimensions, a 1080p IPS display, 8GB of DDR3L SDRAM and a 128GB SSD for the base version. For $1399, you can get a 14-inch laptop with a 2.4GHz Intel Core i7-5500U processor and 256GB of storage.
