Other than these major updates, the webOS will include features such as Channel Advisor. “Magic” is indeed the keyboard that LG uses to highlight three of webOS 3.0’s biggest features. LG webOS 3.0 was created to provide an exceptional user experience to allow for more intuitive navigation of the TV’s features.
The features will take the whole TV user experience to a new level. LG Canada is comprised of five business units – Mobile Communications, Home Appliance, Home Entertainment, Business Solutions and Commercial Air Conditioning.
More on the new and improved webOS 3.0 after the jump. “The webOS story of simple connection, simple switching and simple discovery has really connected with customers and illustrates very clearly our commitment to securing a leadership role in the smart TV market with innovation and creativity”. The most notable feature is Magic Mobile, which lets users connect their mobile phones to Smart TVs through LG TV Plus app. Once connected, users can view mobile apps on television. The magnification will not see any degradation in picture quality.
The Magic Remote has made controlling set-top boxes and DVR functions easier.
The company adds that the Screen Remote feature has been also tweaked to simplify the user interface for less clutter and more convenience. webOS 3.0 will also bring the Channel Plus feature that will provide a range of over-the-top (OTT) content. LG revealed that for the new Channel Plus feature it tied up with Xumo. Channel Plus mixes OTT and traditional broadcast TV channels into a unified list to make it easier to browse through. LG has teamed up with a content company known as Xumo in order to deliver this feature, which essentially offers premium content to LG owners for free. “We’re excited that Xumo and LG’s joint efforts have come to fruition in Channel Plus”.
WebOS may not be shipping on smartphones or tablets anymore, but LG has been using a version of the software for its smart TVs for the past few years… and the company plans to unveil a new version of webOS at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
