LG released quite a few series of Android smartphones in the last couple of years in its attempt to find the winning formula. The all new X Cam and X Screen are the first two devices in this new lineup and are aimed at mid-range users. The phones will be available this coming March in Asia, Latin America, and Europe concentrating on the key markets.

“Everyone has a favorite smartphone feature”. The big idea here, as expressed by Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Mobile, is that “customers shouldn’t have to pay for features that they don’t want”.

This is the larger device among of the two with a screen size of 5.2-inches.

As for the main specs, the X Cam features a 5.2-inch full HD display, an octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage and also a microSD card slot. It packs 16GB of inbuilt storage and is backed by a 2300mAh battery. It runs on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with UX UI overlaid. The handset is backed by a 2520mAh battery. For example, the X cam will come with dual cameras on the rear, which are supposed to offer the most advanced camera experience in a mass-tier smartphone.

It’s the X Cam that’s the more exciting phone; it’s got twin cameras on the rear. It measures 147.5 x 73.6 x 6.9 mm and weighs only 118 grams.

The highlight of the X Cam is its dual camera setup, with a 13MP plus 5MP sensor at the rear, and an 8MP front-facing camera. The handset has a 4.93-inch primary display and a secondary “Always-on” screen measuring 1.76-inch, similar to the one in LG’s V10. With the 1.76-inch Second Screen, users can access frequently used apps, answer calls without interrupting the current activity or play music. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It includes 4G LTE along with other basic connectivity options. The handset measures 142.6mm x 71.8mm 7.1mm, and comes in Black, Pink Gold, or White colors.

LG will reveal more details about these new X Series smartphones at Mobile World Congress later this month, as yet there are no details on pricing.
