Libertarian Gary Johnson Bringing in the Big Bucks

One reason Americans may be about $2 million more open to Johnson this August is that he’s running against two historically unpopular major party candidates.

And time’s running out: The first presidential debate is scheduled for September 26.

A Quinnipiac Poll of likely OH voters released last week showed Democrat Hillary Clinton with 44 percent of the vote, Republican Donald Trump with 42 percent, Mr. Johnson with 8 percent, and the Green Party’s Jill Stein with 3 percent.

But Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are still vying to be heard during the presidential debates.

Last week, the Libertarian Party of OH raised eyebrows when it filed petitions, seemingly to put its national Presidential candidate Gary Johnson and Vice Presidential Candidate Bill Weld, on the statewide ballot. If a presidential candidate polls at 15%, they are invited to televised national debates.

Should Johnson and/or Stein be on the stage alongside Clinton and Trump, whether or not they reach 15 percent in the polls? Get ready for Libertarian Gary Johnson, too. Idaho has just four recognized political parties with ballot status: Republican, Democratic, Libertarian and Constitution Party. As we head toward the presidential debates, is it possible that we will see three candidates on the stage and not only two? Historically, third-party candidates have made a difference in elections by dividing some of the votes, but they have never won.

Jill Stein, Green Party Presidential Candidate, talked with CNN’s Don Lemon.

Stein spent considerable time lamenting climate change, pointing out that it especially affects low-lying islands in the Pacific.

The Green Party announced it has submitted between 14,000 and 15,000 signatures from registered voters, more than the 7,500 needed to gain a spot on the ballot. You talked about reforming these sentencing laws”, Sharpton inquired of Johnson, “Can this be a new way of expanding the support of the Libertarian Party? “So certainly, you know, if she wasn’t aware that she was violating State Department rules, it raises real issues about her competency”.

In May, both candidates unfavorable ratings were lower than the current numbers and poll tracker website FiveThirtyEight said those numbers were “record-breaking” for major party candidates at that point in the race compared to past elections.
