Life of former WWE star Chyna marked by success, struggles

There are no indications or signs that the death was a result of foul play.

HULK Hogan has led tributes to the late wresting legend Chyna. Last month at WrestleMania, the movement hit its apex with the WWE officially retiring the butterfly-shaped Divas Championship and the term “divas” altogether, rebranding the title as the WWE Women’s Championship.

Dubbed “The Ninth Wonder of the World” Chyna was a sports-entertainment pioneer. Then she discovered the athleticism and theatricality of the mostly male pro-wrestlers on TV and decided she, too, could leap from the turnbuckles.

Following her stint with the WWE, Chyna appeared on the independent wrestling circuit and also transitioned into the adult entertainment world, releasing six pornographic films between 2004-2013.

We’ve learned she was in her apartment in Redondo Beach, CA… south of L.A. – and police got the call around 7:30 PM. Redondo Beach police said a friend went to check on Chyna at her apartment in the 900 block of Esplanade after she hadn’t answered her phone in days.

“The exact nature and cause of the death, as well as the general time of death is under investigation by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s department”.

She would have a falling out with the WWF in 2001 never to return.

It probably didn’t help matters that Laurer was once in a very public relationship – both on screen and behind the scenes – with WWE superstar and executive Triple H, who went on to marry Stephanie McMahon, the WWE’s chief brand officer who also happens to be the boss’ daughter.

Ross” former play-by-play partner Jerry “The King’ Lawler who called many of Chyna’s matches also spoke about her death on Twitter. A member of one of the most popular wrestling factions of all-time, Degeneration X, Chyna became the first and only female to win the Intercontinental Championship in WWE. She wrote an autobiography, became a semi-regular on Howard Stern’s radio show and appeared in TV sitcoms like “3rd Rock From the Sun” and reality shows including “The Surreal Life”.

Making a fruit smoothie, the athlete said, “How lucky am I?” after noting that she was “doing good”.

She posted a video to her YouTube page earlier this week – she looked like she was struggling. Sadly for her and those who loved her news of her passing has been over shadowed by the death of another entertainer, Prince. “She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that her”.
