Light snow to accompany warmer weather

Accumulation: Most snow that falls will melt on contact with the ground. On the back side of the storm, colder air works into the region tonight; temperatures will fall into the 20s, so any leftover moisture and untreated surfaces will be icy.

Throughout the night these showers will become lighter and less frequent bringing partly clear skies by morning. West wind 10 to 17 miles per hour. Rain showers will transition to some snow showers and flurries into the early afternoon. Little or no additional snow accumulation.

By tomorrow morning temperatures will barely be above zero and wind chills will continue to be subzero. Chance of snow 40 percent.

And if the 1 below isn’t enough to send you shivering, the wind chill will be about 25 below, the weather service says. Winds out of the southwest will allow for a brief warm up. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday…Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of snow showers. Highs will get above freezing, into the mid 30s, even with plenty of clouds. As the sun sets and temperatures drop, rain showers will transition to snow showers for most areas away from the coast.
