(Radio.com) The dispute over Tha Carter V may be less about Birdman holding up its release and more about money.

Like Wayne himself, Tyga has expressed dissatisfaction with Cash Money in recent months, going so far as to drop a song titled “Cash Money” to vent his disdain.

But Wayne’s lawyers aren’t buying it, and have responded by saying that none of the 20,000 pages accounts for the $70 million, part of which Wayne claims he is entitled to.

For a timeline of this beef between Lil Wayne and Birdman, you can read about the events that led to their acrimonious relationship here. He says Birdman spent the advance on royalties, recording expenses and marketing.

Birdman’s team says that it already handed over 22,015 pages of legal documents to Wayne and his legal team, which is one reason why this is taking so long.

The legal drama between Birdman and Lil Wayne seemed to briefly quell when both were reunited after it was reported that they had attempted to mend their ways and appeared together at Drake’s New Year’s Eve party in Miami back in December.

With so much money gone it’s no wonder that Wayne recently told an interviewer that he would never work with Birdman again and that he’s retiring from music.
