Lil Wayne says he’s “good” following a series of confusing tweets early Saturday (Sept. 3) morning many perceived to hint at his possible retirement from music.

Whether or not this is truly the end of Weezy’s solo career, there’s still the promise of him working as a collaborator with other artists: Just this year, Wayne collaborated with Ariana Grande on her Dangerous Woman track “Let Me Love You”, remixed Zayn’s “Pillowtalk”, and worked with 2 Chainz on a project titled Collegrove. The tweets inspired fans to think up alternative routes for Wayne, with one bringing up the possibility of Rick Ross swooping in to buy Wayne out of his contract. “I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy”.
Since then he’s sued Birdman and the label for over $50 million and said “Fuck Cash Money” numerous times.
“I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun”, Wayne posted around 4 a.m. EST.
Weezy has chanted “F*ck Cash Money” at several of his recent stage appearances including the Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans last weekend and during surprise appearance in Miami at Drake’s Summer Sixteen tour stop this past Wednesday. It seems unlikely that Wayne is actually about to retire from rap, but forcing Birdman’s hand by threatening to do so might be his best option. The Bawse responded succinctly: “get Birdman on the phone”.
But perhaps there’s hope.
