Limerick’s Restaurant 1826 plates up a spot in Michelin Guide
Of the 17 new additions to this year’s 2016 Michelin guide, there are 15 new one star restaurants and two new two star restaurants, with Japanese restaurants Araki and Umu, both in Mayfair, each receiving two Michelin stars.

Several Irish restaurants have also been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand including Adare’s 1826, Giovannelli in Killorglin, Kinsale’s Bastion, The Copper Hen in Waterford, Cafe Hans in Cashel and Clontarf’s Pigeon House.
Danni says she cooks locally sourced seasonal produce, creating dishes that are “precise, balanced, wholesome and full of flavour” for diners from Wednesday to Saturday.
Eipic opened in 2014 and is regarded as the most sophisticated restaurant in renowned chef Michael Deane’s portfolio.
He added: “It is an absolute joy to be awarded the much coveted Michelin star so soon after opening our doors”.
She said: “It is absolutely unbelievable “. It’s been a long time since it disappeared and was taken away.
“I’ve seen them [the inspectors] come and go so many times, I just chose to keep at things and what’s meant for you won’t pass you”, he said.
“We were working towards it but I suppose my focus has changed from being an employee to being an employer”.
Three of them, Deanes at Queens, Bar + Grill and Home, are in Belfast, while Lisbane’s Old Schoolhouse Inn and Holywood’s Fontana also made the list.
The Prashad in Drighlington retained its Bib Gourmand, a mark of good cuisine at a reasonable price.
The shine might have rubbed off the guide a little since it was relaunched in Great Britain and Ireland back in 1974 and this paper put the Michelin Man (or Bibendum, to give him his proper name) on the front cover of its magazine – but it seems it will be a while yet before those stars lose all their glittering magic.
Birmingham has a new Michelin star restaurant after Carters of Moseley became the latest to secure the prestigious accolade.
