Lin-Manuel Miranda ‘Carpool Karaoke’: Playwright Joins James Corden In Broadway Edition
James Corden navigated the streets of New York City with Broadway elite for the June 6 airing of Carpool Karaoke on “The Late Late Show With James Corden”. But what’s immediately impressive in this video is James’ SERIOUS rapping skills during a particularly tricky bit of Hamilton song, Guns And Ships…

Six-time Tony victor Audra McDonald, Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and 30 Rock alum Jane Krakowski joined in on the show stopping singing session. Unsurprisingly, the powerhouse McDonald stole the show. A few special guests showed up to remind everyone that Rent will always be the best Broadway show and Les Miserables the most theater geek-able, no matter how many shows Hamilton sells out.
Streisand last appeared on the Tony Awards 46 years ago in 1970. And, with the award show right around the corner (June 12!), it’s fitting that he’s palling around with Hamilton’s own Lin-Manuel Miranda.

This is Corden’s first time hosting the ceremony.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it turns out that when you stick a bunch of Broadway stars in a auto and ask them to sing show tunes, the result is one of those school field trips where the theater kids sit in the back of the bus and sing their way through the entire score to Rent.
“They [the audience] want to have a great time, it’s a long evening”. Eventually the talk show host was able to book famed diva Mariah Carey, but there was a catch.
Ferguson adds, “It’s the nicest audience you could ever perform for”.

Corden will follow in the footsteps of such luminaries as Julie Andrews and Anthony Hopkins as he hosts the annual awards ceremony in NY this weekend.
