Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of ‘Hamilton,’ says goodbye

To celebrate Lin-Manuel Miranda’s final night in Hamilton, BroadwayWorld has rounded up ten of our favorite Miranda moments. The cast also said goodbye to Tony victor Leslie Odom Jr, who plays Hamilton’s rival Aaron Burr, and Phillipa Soo, who plays Hamilton’s wife, Eliza.

The star and creator of the Broadway smash is set to end his run as Alexander Hamilton Saturday. Miranda, who in June announced he was leaving the show on July 9, posted a throwback Facebook status from the same day in 2011, chronicling the difficulty of writing Hamilton.

Since its debut on Broadway, tickets to the show have been almost impossible to obtain.

He also tweeted a GIF of the cast members behind the scenes and a message to keep your wits about you as “it promises to be a bit of a day”. I will cherish Hamilton and everyone the [Richard Rodgers] Theatre.

As for Miranda, he will continue his musical career starring in Disney’s “Mary Poppins” sequel alongside Emily Blunt in 2018.

Javier Muñoz, Miranda’s longtime alternate, whose performances have earned him the sobriquet “the sexy Hamilton”, takes over the title role of Alexander Hamilton on Monday.

The hit show about the life of one of America’s founding fathers is described as “a landmark American musical”. I intend to drop in on this thing.
