Lin-Manuel Miranda leaving ‘Hamilton’ July 9 but will return

Miranda’s last show will be on July 9, and it just so happens that while the Hamilton creator is leaving, we already know who is going to be replacing him on the stage.

“We are aware that history has its eyes on us”, said Miranda, who has been in the show since its debut off-Broadway in early 2015.

Prior to “Hamilton”, Muñoz was a cast member of Miranda’s musical “In the Heights”. Muñoz also took the reins from Miranda when he departed his first production, “In the Heights”. Though of course, he has to finish his polish on the music of Disney’s upcoming animated adventure film, Moana.

The national tour of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Hamilton will play Denver’s Buell Theare as part of the 2017-2018 Broadway subscription series, the Denver Center for Performing Arts announced Friday. “I’m very excited about it and it’s a way you can help”, tweeted Miranda.

Muñoz, a Brooklyn native who grew up in East New York, now plays Alexander Hamilton for one performance a week. We have the Tony Awards performance.

“I think this is a role I’m going to be going back to again and again”. He play a lamplighter in Mary Poppins Returns, opposite Emily Blunt’s Poppins and under Rob Marshall’s direction. “God, If I could bring Hamilton to Puerto Rico”, he said wistfully. Basically, there is a lot of unseen footage in a vault somewhere that lovers of reality TV, rap, or celebrity culture in general would do anything to get their hands on.

“I hope the 11 Tonys that we racked up on Sunday are somewhat of a validation to those folks that this is a great piece”, Miranda said. “I’m still jealous he got to perform for Jay-Z & Beyonce”, he added.
