Lindsey Graham Backs… Ted Cruz?
Graham, R-S.C., threw his support behind Cruz on Thursday, calling him the best choice for Republicans who want to avoid nominating Donald Trump in July.

Support for Cruz is an about-face for the South Carolina Senator who recently mocked Cruz’s unpopularity among his colleagues.
“I think he’s the best alternative to beat Donald Trump”, Graham said about Cruz. “Graham is hosting a fundraiser and supporting Ted”, Alice Stewart, the Cruz campaign’s communications director, said in a statement, according to ABC News.
Graham has also declared that, “If you nominate Trump and Cruz, I think you get the same outcome”. “Whether it’s death by being shot or poisoning doesn’t really matter”.
“If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you”.
In an interview with The Advocate published earlier this month, Jenner made similar comments about Cruz. By the time Cruz and Rubio had achieved a de facto truce, Trump was well on his way to gobbling up victories, despite his woeful deficiencies and embarrassing debate performances. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s decision to suspend his campaign Tuesday night was a “bad blow” to Trump, Cruz said, “because it means the opposition to Trump continues to unify, and Republicans continue to unify behind our campaign”.
Trump has since dubbed Cruz “Lyin Ted”. But even if he kept going and managed to secure the nod at a brokered convention to fend off Trump, many in the base would likely not support his candidacy because of how the race was won. Mike Lee of Utah, who called Cruz “a tireless defender of the Constitution”.
Trump is claiming that he has a prior commitment to speak at a policy conference hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), said Wednesday he would not be attending the GOP presidential debate that had been scheduled for March 21.
“He’s certainly not my preference, but he’s a reliable Republican, conservative, which I’ve had many differences with”, the South Carolina Republican said.

And while I suspect Graham still believes what he’s said about his colleague, the fact remains that he sees Trump as much worse.
