Lindsey Graham to back Ted Cruz

“I think most Americans when we look at immigration follow a basic principal: legal good, illegal bad”, said Cruz. It later became publicly known that Trump had been given the option of speaking anytime during the three-day conference, at which point the billionaire said that instead he would not square off against Cruz because, “I think we’ve had enough debates”.

Ohio Governor John Kasich then announced that he would not attend the debate either, refusing to debate Cruz one-on-one.

And on Trump, Jenner said that while the Republican front-runner says he would “good for women”, he “doesn’t say how”.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham will raise money for Ted Cruz on Monday, in what amounts to a full reversal of his position on the firebrand Texas senator.

The endorsement from Mr. Graham was tortured and included acknowledgement that he was backing Mr. Cruz as a last resort to stop Mr. Trump.

At last month’s Washington Press Club Foundation dinner, Graham added: “I was asked the hardest question of my political life: Do you agree with Donald Trump that Ted Cruz is the biggest liar in politics?”

Graham, who mounted a failed presidential bid, said Trump is neither a Republican nor a conservative.

“Lyin’ Ted Cruz lost all five races on Tuesday-and he was just given the jinx – a Lindsey Graham endorsement”, Trump tweeted Friday afternoon.

He echoed the somewhat lukewarm tone of South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who informally endorsed Cruz on Wednesday after her original pick, Marco Rubio, dropped out of the race after losing his home state of Florida to the business mogul.

But while some of the establishment once laughed at the thought of Trump securing the nomination, the conversation has shifted to the damage he could do to the party.

“The division that we had … will be reflected in the early votes”, Trent Franks, an Arizona congressman supporting Cruz, said in an interview Thursday. “I don’t see how John gets through the primary”, he said. “But as it goes on I think Trump is becoming more disgraceful in terms of speech”.
