Vonn won by nearly a second and a half Sunday.
“That was not planned”, Vonn said of her misstep.
“I felt like I carried some good speed”, Shiffrin said.
The World Cup tour resumes next week with technical events in Are, Sweden. As one of the oldest and most experienced racers in the field, she drew from her deep well of experience in Lake Louise going back to the first win of her career in 2003.
“I love the thrill of it. Just because I’m older doesn’t mean I’ve lost any desire to continue to win and to continue to ski fast”.
Vonn, the winningest woman in World Cup history, collected her 70th victory and her 18th at “Lake Lindsey”.

Owen Sound’s Larisa Yurkiw was the top performing Canadian at the World Cup event. Valerie Grenier, of Mont Tremblant, Que. finished a surprise 16th.
“It’s just astounding to me how good of an understanding she has of the terrain”, said Shiffrin, who finished 15th in her first World Cup super-G.
It was the third time Vonn has won both downhills and the super-G in Lake Louise, after achieving it in 2011 and 2012.
“It was a big deal”, said the 2010 Olympic downhill champion.
“I had to push hard”, she said.
Vonn blew a kiss to the spectators lining the finish area after crossing the line.
Vonn’s ideal weekend is the first one after her return to racing from a long series of injuries.
“A lot sweetheart”, Vonn replied.
“I think I did a good job today”. “I definitely got a little bit late on the bottom, got pushed a little bit, but I kept the speed going”.
“I’m starting ahead of where I actually thought I would”.
“I knew my run wasn’t that bad”, explained the young Tippler. “I’m probably still a little harsh on my landings, so I’ll work on that, but otherwise the course was incredible”.

The highlights (and lowlights) since 2012 include finalizing her divorce from Thomas Vonn, dating Tiger Woods, tearing up her right knee (twice), sitting out the 2014 Sochi Olympics splitting up with Woods and becoming the most decorated female skier of all-time by breaking the record of 62 World Cup victories held for decades by Austrian Annemarie Moser-Proll.
