Lindsey Vonn ‘disappointed’ after bobble in super-G

A grateful Ledecka thanked fans on her Facecbook page, which swelled with more than 30,000 “likes” and 2,700 shares after herwin over Austria’s Anna Veith.

Veith, the defending Olympic champion in the super-G, was in first after the top 20 racers had completed their runs with a successful defence of her Sochi title all but assured.

“It’s definitely shocking. I wish I had so much athleticism as she has and hop from sport to sport”, Vonn said of Ledecka. You know I attacked.

The road here wasn’t easy.

The famous American skier Lindsey Vonn said that he was surprised by the victory of the Czechs Esther Ledecky in the super-g at the Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Hanyu’s participation in the Games was placed in doubt when he suffered a serious ankle injury last November, but he nevertheless produced a superb display to become the first man in 66 years to retain the men’s singles title.

And there’s the heartbreak that includes a divorce in early 2013 and a relationship with Tiger Woods before they split up in 2015. That’s the most by any woman and short of only the 86 by Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark. Vonn was the first racer on the hill Saturday; she wound up finishing in a tie for sixth. However, she lost a chunk of time both before the midpoint and again on the last key part of the course, a jump-turn combination that she flubbed and was sure cost her a medal.

Ledecka, who trains for each discipline in three-week blocks, revealed that she had had three snowboards prepped for training runs just 30 minutes after the super-G was due to end.

But Weirather, who on any other day might have been the big story given she is from the tiny principality of Liechtenstein – a country with a population of just 37,000 which has not won an Olympic medal since 1988, said she knew the Czech had it in her.

Ester Ledecka, who will be the first athlete to compete in snowboarding and skiing events in the same Games, is primarily a snowboarder. She recovered and made it through the final gates.

It was by far one of the best reactions we’ve seen at PyeongChang, yet.

Ledecka, 22, froze in disbelief. Ledecka now finds herself in the unexpected and unprecedented position of having to match her ski performance in snowboarding.

On Saturday, Miller was in Jeongseon helping NBC call a race that showed Veith can still compete at the highest level. “How did that happen?” she said.

The room erupted in laughter. It was a generous act by the American – one that embodies the Olympic spirit – and it was an inspired gamble by Ledecka. Vonn has also had success in other competitions. Obviously, four years was a long time to wait.

How can I watch the men’s Alpine super-G? “I would be more disappointed if I came down slow and not pushing myself”.
