Lindsey Vonn injured her left knee during a crash at the World Cup Super-G in Andorra Saturday.

The American, who has suffered several knee injuries in her career, later put a message on Instagram saying X-rays showed a hairline fracture.

Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn crashed and had to be taken away on a rescue sled at the World Cup Super-G.

“It started snowing pretty hard in the middle of the race, and that definitely created some slow surfaces for the girls behind”, said Ross, who started No. 10, six spots ahead of Vonn.

Eighth down the hill, Brignone recorded a time of 57.33 seconds, defeating American Laurenne Ross, who was 10th out, by 0.13secs.

Italy’s Federica Brtignone speeds down the course during a women’s Alpine ski super G race, in Soldeu, Andorra, Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016.

Gut could only place 16th meaning that she took 15 points to move to within eight points of the stricken Vonn in the overall standings.

The Italian sealed the win with a 0.13 margin over second placed Laurenne Ross.

“I’ve been in the top 10 many times”.

“It was not the best conditions for the best racers… but I took advantage of my luck”.

Acknowledging that the conditions worsened for later starters, Brignone said: “This is skiing”.

Vonn was later published on the start list for a super combined Sunday in Andorra, but that doesn’t mean she will race.

“Maybe today it was me, maybe tomorrow it is somebody else who is lucky. The slope was really good”.

In her second race back from her two-month injury layoff, Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States trailed Brignone by 2.31 in 29th.
