There was no stopping Lindsey Vonn at Lake Louise as she maintained her flawless start to the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup downhill season.
Vonn completed a World Cup downhill sweep Saturday for her 17th victory at Lake Louise.
Last season, Vonn made her comeback at Lake Louise from a serious right knee injury that kept her out of the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
“I just have to ski clean, ski aggressive, and hope I can stay ahead”, she said.
In addition to her near spill Friday, the 2010 Olympic downhill champion skied into a headwind blast so strong that it bent a flag to the ground.
Vonn was smooth throughout her run, until she hit the bottom of the hill.
LAKE LOUISE, Alberta (AP) – Another race at Lake Louise and yet another win for Lindsey Vonn.
“I knew from experience I could make it up if I skied well”, Vonn said.
A second downhill is scheduled for Saturday followed by Sunday’s super-G.
“That was not planned”, Vonn said of her misstep. “I did a lot of things well, but I did a pretty crucial section in too conservative a way I think”. In a training run Wednesday, she took a bad line. “I should probably not do that tomorrow”.

She is also up to third behind Mikaela Shiffrin and Lara Gut in the overall standings.
