It could be the first-and only-event that Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin both enter in PyeongChang.

Italy’s Sofia Goggia, left, celebrates her gold medal with Lindsey Vonn, right, of the US, who won the bronze medal in women’s downhill at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre in South Korea on Wednesday.
“I haven’t ever completely said that I am not”, she said, slightly opening the door, before nearly closing it shut again. “I wish that my body didn’t hurt as bad as it does”. “So I’m trying to accept that and deal with the emotions of that and enjoy the ride”. Vonn’s time of 1:39.69 put her 0.47 behind Italiy’s Sofia Goggia, who won the gold medal after being the fifth skier to race. Alpine combined features one run down the downhill course at Jeongseon Alpine Centre and another down a slalom course set up on the mountain.
As Vonn approached the finish, she stood up out of her crouch and extended her arms, purposely slowing herself down.
“It’s great skiing, but it reminds me of something that Buddy Werner used to say, ” Kildow told USA TODAY Sports, referring the U.S. Alpine skier who raced in the 1950s and 1960s. I’m very proud. I feel so focused on the day that I haven’t realized yet what I’ve done.
Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn is making moves on and off the slopes, selling a home in Los Angeles last week, months after picking up a new one.
“This was good, but here I realized that though this duel was really good, it wouldn’t have helped me out so much because I have to be focused on myself”.
“I’m just counting on some medical miracles to extend my career”, said Vonn, who missed the 2014 Sochi Games with a knee injury. I’ve been in the fence so many times.
“I may not be as vocal right now with my opinions, but that doesn’t mean that they won”.
Vonn looked in top form coming into the downhill. It was enough to keep Vonn just out of reach when she raced two spots later.
“I didn’t make any mistakes”, Vonn said.
“It’s a thrill and I also watch with the knowledge that it’s a fleeting moment”, said Tiger Shaw, president and CEO of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. “It’s still hard to understand it when I’m standing here”. Vonn became emotional after the race when asked about him.
“It was definitely unexpected”, Tennell said of her fall on a triple toe loop, “but things happen”. “I didn’t do that, but I won a bronze and I think he would still be proud of me”.
Vonn also plans to analyze the way Goggia has been negotiating the downhill course.
Serious injuries are one of the hazards of elite racing, which this season has seen the deaths of two male racers, France’s two-time Olympian David Poisson and German teenager Max Burkhart.
Goggia, the downhill victor, paid Vonn the ultimate compliment after the race.

“We’re a great downhill team and we’re getting stronger in super-G so who knows what’s possible?” she said. Of her 81 career wins, 42 are in the downhill and another 28 are in Super-G.
