Here’s an update- I fell during free skiing on the race hill and I’m waiting for an MRI this afternoon to see what’s going on.
One of Sweden’s more popular athletes, Hansdotter finished second behind Shiffrin in the season-long World Cup slalom standings for the last two years.
Shiffrin, who was hot favorite to win Sunday’s slalom event in Are after taking the opening two slalom events of the season, was undergoing an MRI scan to determine the extent of a worrying injury.
The bulk of her preparation for Saturday came Friday night and ski-less, when Vonn watched video of her Åre giant slalom victory from March 9, 2012.

Vonn is also eying a fifth overall crown and gave her cause another boost with a narrow victory – just 00.70secs faster than Eva-Maria Brem of Austria and 00.35secs ahead of third-placed Federica Brignone of Italy.
This was the fourth straight win for Vonn, having taken three speed races last weekend in Lake Louise, Alberta.
Ligety, nicknamed Mr GS for his domination of the discipline, skied out on the first leg after a mistake. According to USA Today, Vonn commented that it reminded her of growing up in Minnesota and her after-school training runs.
The 2010 Olympic downhill champion and four-time overall World Cup victor, Vonn sat out the opening GS race this season while recovering from a broken left ankle then lost a ski and slid out in her season debut in Aspen, Colorado, last month.
In the second run, Vonn’s lead over Brem was down to just three hundredths at the final interval but her gliding skills paid off over the final gates.
“I hope both of them are OK”, Vonn said.
