Linebacker Stephen Tulloch says Lions are releasing him
It was widely speculated that 2015 would be Stephen Tulloch’s last season with the Detroit Lions but it appears that is now official.

According to the club’s unofficial depth chart, Travis Lewis is now slated behind Tulloch as the anchor of the Lions’ defense. He’ll still count $1.3 million against the Lions’ salary cap for 2016.
What a journey it’s been Detroit! The 10-year veteran linebacker thanked the Lions for the past five years in a post on Instagram announcing he’ll no longer be with the team.
Tulloch went on to thank the Ford family, team executives, coaches and others before thanking the Detroit community for helping with his foundation, which regularly held programs to assist Detroit families and had annual events for women affected by breast cancer.
“Such is life there is constant change, ” Tulloch continued.
In addition to Tulloch’s familiarity with Schwartz, he began his career playing linebacker behind Jim Washburn’s wide-nine front with the Tennessee Titans, something none of the current linebackers on the roster have been asked to do. He was immediately named a captain.
Last season was the first that Tulloch was not consistently a three-down player since signing with the Lions in 2011, which could leave him more open to the idea of taking on a rotation role with the Eagles. He started 16 games in four of his five seasons, recording at least 107 tackles in each of those campaigns.
