LinkedIn Lookup iOS app aims to replace your company’s very bad intranet employee
It’s an app “that makes professionals more productive and successful by helping them easily find, learn about, and contact their coworkers”, said Gupta, who co-founded newsreader app Pulse which LinkedIn snapped up for $90m two years ago. “That’s because it’s easier to find coworkers on LinkedIn, and the professional info people add to their profiles is more comprehensive and up-to-date than lots of companies’ intranets”.

LinkedIn, after launching a fleet of apps such as Job Search, Connected, Recruiter, and Sales Navigator, has now launched its LinkedIn Lookup app. The app is meant for users to find their co-workers, or colleagues in the same organisation, with specific skills and responsibilities. From the list of co-workers, users can tap on any of the profile to further scan through their accounts as if they do usually on LinkedIn.
“We discovered in April that about 30 percent of members who search for people on LinkedIn each month view their coworkers’ profiles”, Gupta wrote.
Co-workers can message each other in this way, even if they haven’t downloaded Lookup and messages sent to LinkedIn Inboxes via Lookup don’t count towards the number of InMails users receive each month.
The three main points of the new Lookup app are that you can lookup (see what they did there) anyone within your company – let’s be honest, sometimes it’s a challenge putting a name to a face in large offices.
While LinkedIn is a handy tool for connecting with new acquaintances or networking with others in your industry, the company thinks it could do a better job at helping you get to know the people you already work with.

The app is available on iOS today and will be available later on Android.
