Before the attack, the beast was filmed strolling down Mombasa Road, just 1km from Nairobi’s global airport, Jomo Kenyatta, in a viral Instagram video.
A lioness walks along a road as visitors sit in their vehicles at Nairobi’s National Park in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, July 12, 2014.
In February, six lions walked out of the park and roamed through the city, scaring residents for a few hours before the big cats returned to the reserve.
A lion sneaked out of Nairobi National Park, adding to the excitement that has been Kenya’s lately, but ended up injuring one person.
KWS said its team rushed to his assistance, and took him to a JKIA medical facility where he received first aid treatment before being transferred to a city hospital.
Paul Udoto said the animal attacked the 63-year-old man after becoming agitated by motorists honking their horns at it before it was captured. “He is out of danger”.
Mr Udoto said: “It has been driven deeper into the park”.
The park is separated by a main road from densely populated neighbourhoods, including Kibera slum, in the south of the city. A KWS helicopter is airborne conducting an aerial surveillance to determine if there is a presence of lions or other wild animals in the area.

It was the fourth time in less than a month that lions have strayed from the park and caused panic, according to the Kenyan news media. It is largely bounded by an electric fence to keep animals inside.
