‘Lion King’ animator pays tribute to Cecil the lion
That was one of the many unforgettable lines from Disney’s heart-breaking 1994 classic “The Lion King”, and artist Aaron Blaise, who was part of the animating team responsible for the film, has found a way to officially cast Cecil the Lion among those heavenly beasts. Aaron, who worked on The Lion King, saw similiarities betwen Cecil and The Lion King’s Mufasa, and created a tribute to the lion the best way he knew how: by rendering Cecil in the familiar image of Simba’s father speaking to him from the heavens.

Cecil the Lion’s death at the hands of an American hunter caused an outpouring of grief and outrage last month. “The great kings from the past look down upon us from those stars”.
“As you may be able to tell I am a HUGE animal lover an it drives me insane when I see these attractive creatures destroyed for no good reason”, he said. Cecil was a favorite of many worldwide tourists and was tagged for scientific study by the Oxford’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit. “In fact, I’ve decided to get personally involved and hopefully our efforts can help educate people and prevent these frightful things from happening in the future”.
