Lionel Messi returns to Argentina’s National Team
Lionel Messi, Barcelona superstar, has rescinded his retirement to global football for the “love” of the Argentine nation.

The Barcelona forward initially ended his career with La Albiceleste after this summer’s Copa America after Argentina lost in the final on penalties to Chile, with Messi missing during the shoot-out.
Lionel Messi is coming back to complete his unfinished business with Argentina’s national team. “I don’t want to cause any damage, I’ve always tried to do just the opposite, to help all that I can”, he told Argentinian newspaper La Nacion.
“Messi’s numbers are unparalleled and I think they’ll remain that way forever, because it’s impossible for a football player to do what Messi has done”, said Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi, who is from Argentina. But I prefer to help from inside rather than stand on the outside and criticism. A lot of things ran through my head on the day of the [Copa America] final.
“I have no doubt that he wants to rejoin the national team…”
I love this country and this shirt too much. “Hopefully we’ll give you some joy soon”. “That’s four finals [lost], it’s not for me”, Messi said after the match.
Messi thanked those who wanted him “to continue playing for Argentina”. “The national team is over for me”.
Good news for Argentina and Lionel Messi fans, as the forward announced on Friday that he would be reporting back for worldwide duty with the Albiceleste, just 2 months after announcing his retirement. “I want more than anyone to win a title with the national team, but unfortunately, it did not happen”.
Prior to World Cup qualifying, Messi and Spanish champions Barcelona will face Sevilla over two legs in the Supercopa de Espana before kicking off their league campaign against Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao.
