Lions’ Ameer Abdullah Jukes Chargers Defender, Scores TD on 1st NFL Carry

The Chargers kept the veteran running back on the roster despite a lackluster exhibition season. The Bills counter with Tyrod Taylor, a sixth round pick of the Ravens in 2011 who is making his first National Football League start.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford had a bit of an off year by his own fantasy standards last season. He hasn’t reached those numbers since.

Lions receiver Calvin Johnson signs autographs at Training Camp. Johnson is always a danger to score from any part of the field.

Even the running game has improved. With Joique Bell injured, Abdullah will get the bulk of the carries in this game.

The defensive line has not looked much better. They have replaced some of that production with Haloti Ngata, but the presence of Suh and Fairley will be missed.

Out for the Lions are outside linebacker DeAndre Levy, their leading tackler previous year, wide receiver TJ Jones, cornerback Nevin Lawson, defensive tackle Carun Reid, tackle LaAdrian Waddle, guard Larry Warford and tight end Tim Wright.

Longtime quarterback Philip Rivers expressed hesitancy about the relocation because of concerns for his family, which will include an eighth child soon, but likely won’t walk away from his lucrative contract that runs through 2019.

It’s time to finally unleash Melvin Gordon. The Chargers need more. Don’t expect Gordon to receive all the attention in the backfield. He is the younger brother of former Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer.

For the Chargers to have a chance to come back in this one, they’re going to have to find a way to dominate the line of scrimmage. Detroit is one of those better teams. In the receiving end, Tyrell Williams had 81 yards and one touchdown in four receptions while Javontee Hernon added 40 yards in four catches.

“It’s been good”, Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich told the San Diego Union-Tribune about Fluker’s position change.

“My lack of excitement for a potential move was more about the thought of leaving this community than it was about a disdain for L.A.”, said Rivers, who is two touchdowns shy of matching Dan Fouts’ franchise mark of 254.

The Chargers failing to get any momentum in the passing game will be their downfall here.

Detroit’s defense is expected to take a step back and they’re banged up too.

The Lions’ offense should have a big day, especially through the air.
