Lions carve up Eagles for third straight

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly runs onto the field to start a game against the New Orleans Saints at Lincoln Financial Field. Eagles cornerback Eric Rowe, who replaced Nolan Carroll after he left with a broken ankle, was simply overmatched.

Matthew Stafford threw five touchdown passes, three to Calvin Johnson, and the revived Detroit Lions won their third straight by walloping the Philadelphia Eagles 45-14 on Thursday at Ford Field. “I didn’t feel I could help the team to go back out”.

Before then it would be a good idea for the Eagles to tear up the plan resulting in three straight losses, including back-to-back blowouts, the latest a 45-14 Thanksgiving decision to the Detroit Lions.

Make it three games in a row now the Lions have held their opponents to less than 70 rushing yards.

But on Thursday, after the Eagles lost their third straight game, Murray finally spoke to the media and addressed the play.

It was the final play of the first quarter in the Eagles-Dolphins game two weeks ago at the Linc, and the Eagles already led 16-3 in a game they wound up losing.

Their play suggests they’ve long since tuned coach Chip Kelly out. “And I had a little emotional moment with my coach [Kris Kocurek] on the sideline”. “I don’t think anybody knows how good he can be”.

Stafford threw a 25-yard pass high in the end zone, where only the 6-foot-5 Johnson could catch it, to put Detroit ahead 24-7 with 12 seconds left in the first half. He finished 27 for 38 for 337 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions.

Graham said that he purchased 40 tickets for family and friends, saying it was an early Christmas gift for them. The same thing happened this season.

Johnson, a possession-preferred receiver typically looked to down field, averaged just 11.4 yards per catch on Thursday.

Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson are poised for big games. He also scored two more in the third quarter within two minutes and four seconds of each other. “I just think we got out-coached today and didn’t do a very good job”.

Late in the first half Thursday, offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter showed the aggression that has endeared him to players over the past month.

A popular one: Did players give up? He caught five more passes vs. Philadelphia for 62 yards and a touchdown, which now gives him 55 receptions on the season for more than 500 yards.

Jim Caldwell explains why the Lions offense played its beat game of the year.

Stafford threw a 2-yard TD pass to Golden Tate, who lined up as a fullback and went to the flat, where he caught the ball and stopped, letting safety Walter Thurmond run past him.

The “Sam Bradford vs. Mark Sanchez” debate is so October. Sanchez was 19 of 27 for 199 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles’ offense didn’t do much of anything, either, gaining just 227 total yards – fewer than what the Lions had gained by halftime. That followed Ziggy Ansah’s third sack of Sanchez, a career-high, forcing a fumble the Lions recovered.

That guy’s got a serious grip – rigor mortis or something”, Sanchez said.

That came just before Josh Huff left the game to be evaluated for a concussion.

If numbers are any indication, the game could be tough on the Detroit Lions.
