Lions LB DeAndre Levy (hip) questionable to return Sunday

By naming Levy a game captain, Lions coach Jim Caldwell indicated Levy is healthy enough to play.

Levy agreed to a four-year contract extension worth almost $34 million in August but injured his hip in practice about three weeks later.

Levy has been sidelined with a hip injury, but the team did not make it clear what caused the injury.

“The thing about our structure on defense is that we still have packages that we use, so he will still get his playing time as well”, Caldwell said.

The 28-year-old led the National Football League in solo tackles last season, with 117, and was second in total tackles, with 151. Detroit has struggled on that side of the ball this season, and has stayed in the bottom five or six of the league in most defensive categories.

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford confirmed today that he was fined for wearing improper cleats in Monday night’s 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Having DeAndre Levy back in the middle of the defense won’t solve all of the Lions’ problems, but it can’t hurt.

“I would assume you could probably make that assumption”, Caldwell said Friday.

“We’re on to Cincinnati” was the infamous quote from Bill Belichick after his team’s humiliating loss on MNF vs. the Chiefs a year ago.
