This time around, title-singing duties fall to human Macklemore chorus Sam Smith, and after a few weeks of teasing, his track “The Writing’s On The Wall“, arrived this morning.
Two years ago, Sam Smith sent an email to his agent, the subject line of which simply read “007”.
Djalili, who had a minor role in Bond film the World is Not Enough, added: “If you’re not moved by this song you don’t have a pulse”. In the lyrics – “How do I live, how do I breathe?”
“In a post on Twitter.com, he writes, “@samsmithworld has delivered a very haunting and wonderfully orchestrated #spectre theme song.
Earlier this week, Smith told Billboard that writing and recording the song was one of the highlights of his career, and that he couldn’t wait to share it. Plenty of Bond songs have rocked or at least rolled, from Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die” to Shirley Bassey’s “Goldfinger“.
Smith later thanked his followers for all of the wonderful messages.
The singer-songwriter’s vocals are, expectantly, on point, veering from falsetto to baritone effortlessly backed by a lush and cinematic orchestral accompaniment, it’s everything you’d expect a Sam Smith theme to sound like. The singer co-wrote the tune with Jimmy Napes. “Because the writing’s on the wall”.

According to the assumptions, the song matches flawlessly with Bond’s temperament and the entire exploratory setup.
