“Any re-strengthening of Ida as a tropical cyclone would likely be tempered by substantially drier air on the backside of the trough being entrained by the cyclone”, according to the forecast.

Tropical Storm Ida has changed directions is it swirls over the subtropical Atlantic.

Ida’s center was 1,035 miles (1,670 kilometers) east of the Leward Islands in the Caribbean, the National Hurricane Center said in its 0900 GMT bulletin. The National Hurricane Center in Miami says little change in that strength is expected over the next 48 hours.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect as Ida is in the open central Atlantic Ocean.

Ida is forecast to slow down tonight and begin a meandering motion by Tuesday.
