Little Women to Be Adapted into a ‘Gritty’ Dystopian CW Show
In its quest to look at out-of-the-box ideas for its TV shows, broadcast television network, The CW, has decided on its next development project based on Louisa May Alcott’s 1868 classic.

The series will be scripted by Alexis Jolly, a rising writer who recently sold A handsome Day in the Neighborhood, a biopic about Mr. Rogers. On top of the dangers of the Philadelphia streets, the four women will have to fight the urge to kill one another as they take on the process of surviving in such a world.
There are several famous adaptations of Little Women, including George Cukor’s 1933 film version which starred a young Katherine Hepburn as Jo, and a rather terrible 1949 technicolor iteration with June Allyson as Jo, Janet Leigh as Meg, and Elizabeth Taylor as Amy.
I swear this next sentence is true and not the result of a Mad Lib: The CW is developing a “hyper-stylized, gritty adaptation” of Little Women with Michael Weatherly (NCIS) executive producing.
This certainly isn’t the first time Little Women has been adapted for the screen, the most recent version being Gillian Armstrong’s feature starring Winona Ryder and Christian Bale, but you’ve never seen the March sisters like this before.

The CW has yet to announce its cast line-up for Little Women, or when it plans to air the season premiere for its new series.
