NextVR co-founder David Cole told FierceCable at NAB that the company is building an audience on its own streaming platform.

“NextVR is planning to bring quite a few acts to the platform at no cost and initially – all programming will be free”.
Concert-goers keen for live experiences but unable to travel to a gig in person could have a new solution to hand courtesy of a novel collaboration between NextVR and Live Nation.
Virtual reality is also on the menu with Live Nation’s partnership with NextVR, also announced May 4.
NextVR has already raised $35.5 million in funding from investors including Comcast Ventures and Time Warner Investments.
In April, a surgical procedure was live streamed in virtual reality for the very first time. As the VR market grows, immersive home viewing experiences will need to grow with it.

After dedicating tons of energy (and loads of bandwidth) to live streaming sporting events in stereoscopic VR, NextVR is moving to its next major market: live virtual reality concerts. At its best, it can bring everything we love about concert going and provide a special view of artists at work – all without getting shoved by fellow fans or charged exorbitant service fees for tickets. Live Nation produces 25,000 live events each year, so the companies should have plenty of shows to choose from.
