Liverpool accept £13m bid for Joe Allen from Stoke City

Former club Swansea City had been linked with a move for Allen, but are apparently unwilling to match the £13million fee being offered by Stoke City.

Allen started just eight Premier League games last season but starred for Wales at Euro 2016, helping the side reach the semi-final stage, and was named in the official team of the tournament.

“Obviously Joe Allen is a good player; we never doubted this”. I like the guy and I really think he is a wonderful football player.

The Welsh midfielder was on the fringes when Jurgen Klopp took over and appeared likely to leave before improving his performances to the point where he was an important first team member at the club and earning plaudits across the world for his work at the Euros with Wales.

But he added that it is “nothing to discuss in public” because he has not seen the Welshman since “the middle of May in Basel” when the Reds lost to Sevilla in the Europa League final. Allen is the subject of a £13m bid from Stoke City, while Flanagan is weighing up a possible season-long loan to Premier League newboys Burnley. The versatile defender is considering the move only four months after signing a new three-year contract with his boyhood club.

Otherwise, Liverpool will also send Lucas Leiva for scans on the hamstring injury he suffered after an hour at Huddersfield. “The first half we should have scored more”, added Klopp. We played a odd formation, with Shamal as a striker but he did wonderfully. You couldn’t make it up.
