Liverpool beats Stoke on penalties, reaches League Cup final
Joe Allen has revealed the confusion in the Liverpool camp before he slotted away the penalty that shot his team to Wembley.

Liverpool have never lost a League Cup semi-final at Anfield and should they prevail will face either Manchester City, or city rivals Everton in the final, clashes which Klopp is relishing.
“I’ve heard about the special atmosphere at Anfield in semi-finals and I am really looking forward to it”.
Jurgen Klopp has called on his Liverpool side to keep the prospect of a first all-Merseyside final in 27 years alive by beating Stoke.
The Stoke midfielder looked to be half a yard offside when he finished a sweeping counter-attack, but the linesman wasn’t interested in any of the Liverpool complaints.
“Not the most easy situation sometimes for players if you’re in a good shape but you don’t play from the beginning”.
Klopp said an obscured view rather than superstition was to blame as Joe Allen stepped up to strike the winning penalty over Stoke City.
Thompson believes the 28-year-old would be a ideal solution to his former side’s defensive vulnerability, having seen them concede more goals than any other side in the top half of the Premier League this season.
“Until now I did not see one penalty to be honest – I was behind the wall of my players, so did Simon save a few or not?!” he is quoted by The Mirror. “Especially when you think of what happened against Aston Villa last season in the FA Cup semifinal”.
“We take what it is – for sure it is a north of England final!”
“We are in the final and we will be ready and try everything to get silverware for the Liverpool museum”. They all put in fantastic performances and I’d highlight Crouchy who, along with Marc Muniesa, hadn’t played for a long time. But you need luck in a penalty shoot-out and we got it.
Stoke have been handed a blow with Ryan Shawcross ruled out for a month with a back injury but Marko Arnautovic is set for a recall after missing Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Leicester with a hamstring problem.
