Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: Everybody can play better
Liverpool pair Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson have both been ruled out of the Reds’ crucial Premier League clash with West Ham on Saturday, with neither having shaken off their respective fitness issues.

Sturridge last featured for the Reds in the 2-0 away loss to Newcastle United on December 6, but could come back into contention for the game at the Upton Park, according to liverpoolfc.com on Thursday.
Fellow Liverpool forward Divock Origi is out with a hamstring problem, though, as is midfielder James Milner, while Joe Allen is suffering with a sickness bug. “It’s intensive, we can not ignore this”.
“I don’t hold him back – never! If West Ham will talk about this then they can do it. It’s a really good club, but it was the wrong time for all the clubs, so nothing to do with West Ham or what I think about West Ham”.
Klopp has instigated a “mini pre-season” for his star striker as he attempts to rid the 26-year-old of the series of niggly problems which have meant he has started just one game for Liverpool since the German arrived in the first week of October, as well as two appearances from the bench. The best thing would be another two weeks.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss laughed off the incident involving the former West Ham boss but insists he was right in how he reacted to the horror tackle. “It’s match by match, with hardly any time to recover and prepare, and it is going to be a particularly demanding time for the teams in the Capital One Cup semi-finals”.
The month could have a huge bearing on Liverpool’s season as they compete on three fronts, but Klopp played down its significance.
Liverpool sits seventh in the Premier League table heading into this weekend’s fixtures with 30 points from 19 games, trailing fourth-placed Tottenham by five points.
Klopp told the official Liverpool website: “It’s intensive, we can not ignore this”.
“Everybody knows Hendo is a real tough guy and yesterday he tried and then we saw it’s not ideal…” After our last win the players were not celebrating; they were sitting still, thinking about the next game.

On the striker, Klopp explained: “I am not holding him back – I am trying to make him fit. It has been a good year for me personally”.
