Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp plays down Daniel Sturridge injury concerns

Speaking in an interview with The Daily Mail published before Friday’s clash at Chelsea, Firmino said: “All of us have our qualities that add to the team”.

The enigmatic German with wild energy and wilder facial expressions became an instant Premier League draw when he arrived in England last October. “I think anyone that loves travel would love to come over here”.

He looks like a Klopp player in the way he enjoys pressing defenders, offering movement in the final third and linking up with right-back Nathaniel Clyne to devastating effect out wide.

Firmino has had a strong campaign so far, netting three goals in five appearances across all competitions after scoring 11 times for Liverpool last season.

Klopp is just shy of 12 months in the Liverpool managerial hot-seat and has made a decent start to his first full Premier League season at the helm, with the Reds sitting sixth through four games, two points outside the top four.

“I am really not interested what people say”. Now it’s behind us and now we are focusing on the next game. That surprise result, Klopp believes, is a reminder to not linger too long over statistics. We try to do that, no matter who we are playing against. In the moment it feels better but for the long-term it’s not.

His former Liverpool teammate Jermaine Pennant plays with Tampines Rovers in the S.League, and Fowler admits that he would have fancied a stint in Singapore, but was never asked. We lost our nerve.

Liverpool, who do not have the distraction of European football like so many of their rivals this season, now sit sixth in the Premier League table and will be back in action on Friday when they travel to London to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

“My job is to create a plan to not let them go through”.

“I think [Allardyce] was the best English manager to take the role”, Fowler said.
