Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that David Luiz will make his second debut for the club when they host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night during his pre-match press conference.
This game has become a highly anticipated fixture in recent years and never fails to disappoint, but this year the excitement is at another level as two of the most passionate managers in world football come up against each other for the first time in England’s top division.
“We expect that he’ll play very well with great attention. We played against each other only once, in pre-season, but he’s a fantastic manager and I’ll be glad to see him tomorrow”.
“When new players arrive they need time to adapt to a new concept of football”.
“Since we worked together it’s always getting better”.
“Some players would be tempted to try to wind him up and get a reaction, but as a player I wouldn’t do that”, he said. “He is a good player and during the training sessions I have been seeing good things”.
Conte added: “John strained the ligament of his ankle, the doctor told me after 10 days he could be available to come back”.
The Chelsea boss was asked about the future of midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who has struggled to get into the side this season, with N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic the current preferred pairing in the middle of the park.
The England worldwide has scored three times in six outings for club and country this season, having been given more attacking responsibility in a central role.
We give Ivanovic the starting spot due to Chelsea’s creative and technically able midfield having the potential to control the tempo and focus on play in the middle of the park.
“I want this from my players, to put doubts in my mind”.
Liverpool are unbeaten in three Premier League games against Chelsea, drawing two, and winning on their last visit to the Bridge last season.
“It will be very tough against a strong team”, he said.
