Origi scored his first goal for Liverpool against Southampton in the 6-1 League Cup win on Wednesday night, and added another two goals to seal a hat-trick in the one-sided affair at St. Mary’s. In his likely absence, Roberto Firmino is in contention for a recall at St James’ Park.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits he was too optimistic about Philippe Coutinho’s injury and he may not yet be ready to return. “Sometimes it happens like this and there is nothing to criticise – he has tried everything he can”.

“He felt each muscle after the game, but it was intensive”.

‘I heard about Newcastle and knew a bit about their problems in the a year ago. Something isn’t right when you change the manager. “It’s possible we could play the same team again”.

“It’s important we give Hendo time to come in”.
