Liverpool eyeing Monchengladbach starlet Dahoud

The Express claim the Reds were strongly interested in bringing Dahoud to Anfield this summer but their attempts to sign him were thwarted by Monchengladbach, with the Bundesliga side reluctant to allow the promising talent to leave.

The report suggests that Liverpool had scouts in attendance to watch the 20-year-old playmaker against Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday.

However, Express claim that Liverpool are readying a £25 million bid to secure Dahoud’s services in January.

Gladbach are determined to keep hold of their talisman and refused to play ball.

Fissler also notes an £8.3 million release clause in Dahoud’s current contract, which can be activated next summer, making a big-money January offer seriously poor value for money.

Now for the sad part.

That is a major boost for Liverpool in their pursuit of the midfielder, although Klopp will face competition as it is believed the starlet is also wanted by Italian giants Juventus. Admittedly, we’re not their yet, but surely young, promising players like Dahoud might want to be a part of Klopp’s revolution.

Liverpool have impressed with a string of fine displays this term.

Given the resurgence of Jordan Henderson in the early stages of this year’s campaign, as well as the emerging influence of Gini Wijnaldum alongside the captain, it’s hard to see whom Dahoud would supplant in order to slot into the current side.
