Liverpool and Newcastle have come to an agreement regarding the price we’ll pay for Georginio Wijnaldum, reports the Shields Gazzete, but an official bid has yet to be placed. I don’t have any advice for him anymore, he knows the qualities that he has.

The 25-year-old was one of Newcastle’s few bright sparks last season scored 11 goals in 38 Premier League appearances last season.

Liverpool are confident that they can conclude the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United this week and are now leading the chase for the midfielder’s signature, according to reports in the British media.

The midfielder, who moved to the north east of England last summer for £14.5million from his home country, was the driving force behind The Magpies’ survival hopes.

Rafa Benitez, the Magpies’ manager, brought Lucas to Liverpool in 2007 and stuck by him through a few hard years when Lucas had become something of a boo-boy for some Liverpool’s fans.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez wants to keep Wijnaldum and Moussa Sissoko, his midfield colleague, at St James’s Park.

Newcastle’s insistence on signing Lucas is reportedly holding-up Wijnaldum’s move to Liverpool.

However, the issue could yet be resolved in time for Wijnaldum to cross the Atlantic with Jurgen Klopp’s squad later this week. A deal could happen in the coming days with both the managers getting their hands on their respective targets.

Wijnaldum has been attracting the interest of Premier League clubs since Newcastle’s relegation and is believed to want to move back to the top flight.
