Liverpool forward Sadio Mane happy with his start to life at Anfield

A convincing win over Leicester City showed what Liverpool are capable of, according to Jurgen Klopp.

A vibrant Liverpool ran out 4-1 winners over champions Leicester City at a newly-renovated Anfield on Saturday, with the home supporters serenading their manager during the second half.

Mane said that the supporters played “a very good part” for the players and “helped” them “through the hard times” in the match, adding that they are “very happy with that” and saluted the fans for being with them “until the end of the season”.

“We knew we had to do the job today and that is what we did”, said the German.

Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Liverpool fans should not sing his name until his team’s result is decided.

“When we spoke about the transfer window – are you really sure?” The way they played against Leicester on Saturday, they would’ve beat anyone who lined up opposite.

“It was the same at Arsenal”. It’s nice but not necessary. It would be really nice if you could stop please!

“It was no-one’s fault and as a team we probably didn’t manage the game as well as we should have at 2-0 and gave them a few sniffs”.

Sturridge raced onto Jordan Henderson’s excellent pass over the top and produced clever backheel to pick out the supporting Mane, who made it eight goals in as many top-flight appearances with a dinked effort that was just too strong for Schmeichel’s palm.

But Adam Lallana’s rocket in the 56th minute and Firmino’s second in the 89th minute wrapped up Liverpool’s second win of the season and left Leicester contemplating a lacklustre start to their title defence.

To add to Claudio Ranieri’s problems ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League group game with Club Brugge, defender Danny Simpson was taken off injured in the first half. Fortunately, we play every three days now; there is a new adventure in the Champions League and we have to recharge the battery, look how Liverpool won – with great spirit – and restore our way.

“We have to clean our minds”. Their two best chances, the Vardy goal and long throw that Robert Huth nodded off the crossbar, were down to Liverpool’s inadequacies.
