Liverpool hammer Manchester City as title hopes take a massive blow

Jordan Henderson believes Liverpool “channelled the anger” from their disappointing Capital One Cup final defeat and used it to down Manchester City in the league on Wednesday evening.

“The important thing is that Raheem and the other players feel the support when they play against their old team, because it’s hard for any player to do it. But all of them are prepared to do it without any problem”.

However, as useful as players like Milner and Lallana are, they’re not footballers who, as Ferdinand notes, will intimidate opposition sides when they head to Merseyside.

“If I’m Jurgen Klopp, I’m a anxious man. I’m thinking roll on to the next window”.

Yes, most of these players simply aren’t good enough.. He scored a fantastic goal in the first half to give Liverpool the lead and worked tirelessly the whole game.

Nicolas Anelka’s late goal in a 2-1 win in May 2003 was crucial in denying Gerard Houllier’s Liverpool a Champions League place; but City have had no reason for cheer there since.

“The first (Premier League) title that this club won – that year, they recovered eight points on Manchester United”.

The team has lost consecutive home fixtures to Spurs and Leicester, but Vincent Kompany is only beginning to integrate himself into the lineup.

First half goals from Adam Lallana and James Milner put the Reds two ahead at the break, with Roberto Firmino adding a third early in the second half.

Meanwhile, Toure was again excellent at centre-back – despite playing most of the game on Sunday. We had to show a reaction.

“I don’t look at that team and think, he can hurt me”. They recovered the ball at high pace.

City were frequently second to the 50-50 ball, showing exhausted legs from Sunday, perhaps. If Liverpool’s goal is to finish 6th-8th every year, then Lallana and Mignolet are the go-to guys, but if the Reds have serious designs of winning trophies; maintaining a top-four place, or actually winning the league at some point, then significant upgrades are required.

“We spoke about the final after the game, we spoke about this game”, he said.

Liverpool continued to hunt for goals and Hart had to be at his very best shortly after the third goal. Not Leicester. Man City and my side we had the most matches this season.

“It’s a little bit less calculated and probably more entertainment value for people watching but it’s the only way for us to get there now because we’re in a trailing position”.
