Liverpool in talks to sign Red Star Belgrade’s £5million-rated starlet Marko

They were in attendance for a recent 7-2 Red Star triumph and were “granted permission to hold talks” with Grujic. I’m a still Red Star player’.

Grujic is not the only midfielder that Liverpool are tracking the progress of.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is apparently very keen to land the highly rated defensive midfielder from Red Star Belgrade ahead of next month’s transfer window, his first at the helm on Merseyside.

“I’ll definitely stay here until the end of Champions League qualifying [next summer]”.

Grujic was refreshingly honest for a young man, admitting the lure of Liverpool as well as confirming the talks but reassuring his future at the club for the remainder of the season.

Grujic – who has earned comparisons to compatriot and Chelsea star Nemanja Matic – is quoted by the Daily Mirror as saying that he has held talks over a move to join Liverpool, but no agreement has been reached with the Reds.

The Liverpool Echo reports that the Merseysiders have already approached Red Star about the 19-year-old, who is already a key figure in a title-chasing side, with a fee of around £5million mooted.

In fact, on the recommendation of Jurgen Klopp’s Assistant Manager Zeljko Buvac, Liverpool sent scouts to watch Grujic play at the weekend.

He has since gone on to become a firm fans’ favourite and has helped Red Star build a commanding 19-point lead at the top of the table this season.

Grujic has scored five goals and five assists in 20 appearances for Red Star this season and has a contract until 2018 with the club.
