Liverpool: Klopp admits to mixed emotions

Last season he definitely was one of the main reasons Liverpool finish lower down then usual in the table, not mentioning losing them the Carling Cup and the Europa League.

Arsene Wenger entered into the 2016/17 season on the final year of his contract with Arsenal.

It was only Liverpool’s second win at Arsenal in 21 attempts and put an early dent in Arsene Wenger’s hopes of leading the London club to a first league title since 2004.

‘If you don’t play them you miss them’.

On the other hand, Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, had enough reasons to be jubilant from the display of his disciples.

Arsenal face a trip against champions Leicester City next and Wenger has revealed he does not now know the extent of Ramsey’s injury and is equally unsure on whether Ozil, Giroud and Koscielny will play.

With Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel all absent, Wenger handed summer signing Rob Holding his Premier League debut alongside Chambers at the heart of Arsenal’s defence and the inexperienced duo were hardly tested in the opening stages as Arsenal dominated the ball.

“Physically, we are not ready”.

“We go see wetin we fit do with the players wey dey floor, but I never know if the body of the players wey don wound go dey kampe before our next match”.

“The game is not over unfortunately, and Arsenal was not in a good way but we gave them the path [back into the match] again”.

“It’s a catch 22 situation with the Euros, you have to give players a rest”. We prepared well the players we have in but I think you have to consider we have been a bit unlucky as well.

All 3 points claimed but conceding 3 goals still a massive concern for Liverpool after a thrilling victory over rivals Arsenal. Then the manager said a lot of things we needed to improve on in the second half and I felt we did that.

Arsenal, who have now won just three of their eight opening day games at the Emirates Stadium, lost both Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi to injury during the second half.

He certainly looked off the pace for the start of the game.

It was very soon 4-1 to Klopp’s transformed side after a superb run by new signing Mane, who broke down the right flank and raced past two Arsenal defenders before firing a rasping left-foot shot into the far corner.

“It was so intense, it was so wrong, it was the first game”, Klopp said.
