Liverpool: Klopp praises ‘wonderfully skilled’ Sturridge

“I wish we could have won it, but now we have to accept a point and that’s no problem because it’s Tottenham”. It hasn’t gone unnoticed by some of the players, as vice captain James Milner can attest to. “But I can only pick 11 players to start and I never make a decision like this against one player”, he told reporters. “It is something we can learn from”. But it is about doing it against teams who aren’t going to play against us. “We have to be more ruthless”, said Milner. It was not like it was 50-50. We had wonderful moments with passing and all that stuff, the direction in our game.

The England worldwide played in a right-wing role last weekend as Liverpool lost 2-0 to Burnley and the striker came out and emphasised that his best position is as a striker.

Perhaps that is what’s most frustrating about losses like Burnley and draws like Tottenham, as supporters.

But he acknowledged that, despite an improved display, the feeling they come away with is actually worse because they should have claimed the full three points. The Cameroon global impressed on his Premier League debut alongside Dejan Lovren in central defence, where his aerial strength was a welcome addition and his ability to build from the back hinted at a fresh dimension to Liverpool’s approach, one they have not had since Daniel Agger was at the club and on song.
