Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confident of Anfield success following EPL debut
Simon Mignolet did well in the visitors’ goal to deny Harry Kane and Clinton Njie goals in each half and Divock Origi, the young forward rarely used by former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers but suddenly essential to the injury-ravaged side, headed his side’s best effort against the crossbar.

Despite the lack of goals, Klopp said his players were “brilliant” in certain moments of the match.
The England striker missed Klopp’s debut in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday after he sustained a knee problem in Liverpool’s final training session before their trip to Tottenham.
Klopp revealed he had attempted to sign Origi while at Dortmund only for Liverpool to beat them to the punch – but he is now pleased to be working with the Belgium worldwide having lost Ings for the season and with Sturridge sitting out this game as a precaution.
A number of injuries to Christian Benteke, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez and Daniel Sturridge caused problems for Klopp before kick-off but his side still left north London with a share of the spoils.
Klopp instructed his players to play in a 4-3-2-1 formation, a relatively unusual system in the Premier League. The 20-year-old admitted that he has received a lot of praise for his performance against Mauricio Pochettino’s side. They were also the first team to outrun Tottenham, the most effective pressing team in the division.
“Liverpool’s future opponents will be thinking they’re in for a right game, it’s going to be very tough and it’s not going to be enjoyable if they continue to press like that, and I think they will”. I feel for sorry for the boys that are out but I will just try to support the team and do my best.
Jurgen Klopp aimed to become the first Liverpool manager since Kenny Dalglish in 1985 to win his first game in charge of Liverpool, but he started his reign as Reds boss with a hard-fought draw (0:0) against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
“[Klopp told us] just to play with passion and no fear”.
“We don’t have to sprinkle magical dust on them: “and now you can play football”.
We screened him to be sure and could see a little bit of swelling but we will see.

“When you look at the coach, he sends out a very strong feeling, a very powerful feeling”. Very rarely do you see a manager stamp his authority on a team from day one, but that’s what he did.
