Liverpool: Mkhitaryan was never a Klopp target

Players coming in means spending and for the calibre of player Klopp requires to play his way, it means serious amounts of cash.

“But building the group is not my unique idea, it is necessary to be successful in football”.

Premier League clubs have spent a combined £500m on players in this transfer window as the added money from new television deals filters through to the clubs, and fees have risen as a result.

“I met all of them before we made the transfer and then it is about feeling the person behind the player”. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money.

“If you have had players, you know more about them”.

“You can win championships, you can win titles”.

“If you all swim in the same pool, the pool is too small – you all go for the same players, ‘ he continued”. It is about finding the players who can make the next step with us.

“We will try everything 100 per cent and see what happens”.

“What they’ve done so far is more than okay”.

“If you give one that is 50-50 or 40-60, then you have to give the next one again, and it became a little bit of a farce”.

“For me, I’m looking forward to the season and I think the signings we have had will help us push onto the next level”.

“Now I think it is a week or more he has been out”.

“I am not the moral guardian of the league”.

“We have to prove that our thinking about the team is right”.

Klopp also revealed that Marko Grujic had been taken to hospital with suspected concussion following a clash of heads with Bertrand Traore.

He is expected to miss tomorrow’s match against AC Milan in Santa Clara.

Both Klopp and Antonio Conte acknowledged this game was more combative than most friendlies and given the recent history between the two clubs you can understand why.

“Of course it’s my team, my squad now. That is important for me, it is important for the club and the owner – everyone”.

Jurgen Klopp’s honeymoon period is over.

It had previously been suggested that Klopp could seek to be reunited with Mkhitaryan, having brought the Armenia global to Dortmund from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013. “He missed three things he should not have missed, that is all, and that is why I sent him home”.
