Liverpool are unbeaten in five European home matches (W2 D3) since a 3-0 loss to Real Madrid in the 2014/15 Champions League group stage.

Tonight’s Europa League match takes place just 70 hours before Sunday’s League Cup final, but Klopp says he won’t be resting players with the Wembley match in mind. I am totally focused and of course I want to be on the pitch playing in every game and it hurts not being able to play.

“It is important to win as many [trophies] as we can”.

“You need a centre-back partnership to be successful and Liverpool have not had one for a number of years”, he said “I look at Wes Morgan and Robert Huth at Leicester and how successful they have been”.

The Reds play Augsburg in the Europa League on Thursday before contesting the first major silverware of the season against Manchester City.

Liverpool and Tottenham are both level after their first legs, having drawn 0-0 and 1-1 respectively, while United will be looking to overturn the 2-1 deficit they suffered in Denmark last week.

I still think it’s hard for Liverpool.

“I think it is astonishing, disappointing – whoever is saying it – but that’s football”.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is obviously delighted to have his frontline striker available to him once again.

“He would always say to me, ‘Enjoy it, because it is going to fly.’ I’d say to him, ‘Behave, Nige, I’m only 16, ‘ but he was right – 14, 15 years goes like that”. “Manchester City know what we can do, and they will be setting up in a different manner to when that game was played”. They’re not very good at home, some might even say they’re not great away either, and it’s one of these situations where they tend to get frustrated when they try to control games.

Martin Skrtel is expected to start along with Mamadou Sakho since Skrtel has recovered from Injury and Dejan Lovren will not be risked probably since he’s just returning to fitness.

“It’s an opportunity to go to the next round in a tournament we want to go as far as possible in”.

Midfielder Tobi Werner tried to play down the task ahead of them, however.

Liverpool had a nervy moment when Paul Verhaegh’s free kick found Caiuby, but the forward was unable to control it and the ball bounced awkwardly with Mignolet nowhere near it.
