Liverpool’s Ibe hoping to flourish under Juergen Klopp

Liverpool’s teenage winger Jordan Ibe believes he can flourish and become a world-class performer under the guidance of new manager Juergen Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp’s men – who won at Rubin Kazan on Thursday – had 22 shots on target at Anfield, but found the net just once and Ibe was quick to admit they must improve their finishing.

The striker played under Klopp during his time at Borussia Dortmund which lasted for a period of four years.

“He obviously did a great job at Borussia Dortmund”, said Ibe.

“Some of them, like Robert Lewandowski, have become players who are operating at the highest level in the Champions League”. Hopefully he can help me and a few of the lads here do the same. I’m still a young player with a lot to learn. Dortmund always put a lot of pressure on the opposition and made life very hard.

“We played alright and we created chances to get the goals but it just didn’t come”.

The 19-year-old has a bruised knee which it is understood will prevent his participation with the national side but should not rule him out of contention for Liverpool’s Premier League game at City.

While the Pole went onto to excel at the Signal Iduna Park, he endured a frustrating first season at the club and was unable to hold down a first team spot in his preferred centre-forward position. I had been prepared for that – I knew this kind of thing could happen and that I had to hang in there and stay positive.

“It was a bit of a shock to hear he had gone”.

“I sent him a message”. I think managers and players leaving clubs is a part of the game now.
